On Sunday afternoon, I was looking out our back bedroom window at birds which were coming to our feeder and birdbath just outside. I'd pulled out and used our two Texas bird guides and the binaculars. Afterwards, I got called away from my viewing spot at the window. When I returned, our Australian Shepherd, Arrow, and our two cats were all lying there, side by side, and watching the birds outside the window. It was a wonderful sight! Couldn't resist calling my daughter to take a few photos of our bird watchers in action...
Okay. I've most always had either a cat or more than one. We have two presently; Pippen a calaco male several years old; and a friskly female grey tabby kitten named Princess. A young friend of ours had this video on her blog. It is so right on, and Funny, that I wanted to share. (Hope she doesn't mind...)
Cheshire Cat Moon
Thin line moon
Curves upon western night sky,
Hung low & early.
Bittersweet orange,
Cheshire cat moon grins astute
Amid surreptitious pathways,
Catpaw starlight,
Illumines tracks strewn upon black firmament;
Prints discovered above deep hillsides,
Tail-striped shadows
Revealed while passing dark pines,
Headed towards home.

Meet Arrow, Ana's Australian Shepherd - Guardian & Herder of all things human or feline... Formerly, also helped herd our sheep and goats when we lived back in Georgia...
And, here's Pippin, the very dashing Hobbitish senior ranked cat of our household who is also very tolerant of both our youngest daughter [ergo the straw hat] and a certain young feline who has recently become part of the family...
Princess was born in a neighbor's yard. She was born right in the middle of a large patch of lemon grass in our friend's herb garden. I guess she must feel right at home napping in our plant on the table...
And, here's the Princess, that little tabby rascal, riding in the back of the pickup truck on our emergency trip to Colorado.
And last but not least, dear old mutt of a dog named Rusty, faithful friend for many long years, who departed this life on July 5, 2007. He is still very much missed by all of us...
