Memory Eternal, Kevin (Zechariah)!

"If any man be devout and loveth God,
Let him enjoy this fair and radiant triumphal feast!
If any man be a wise servant,
Let him rejoicing enter into the joy of his Lord.

If any have laboured long in fasting,
Let him how receive his recompense.
If any have wrought from the first hour,
Let him today receive his just reward.
If any have come at the third hour,
Let him with thankfulness keep the feast.
If any have arrived at the sixth hour,
Let him have no misgivings;
Because he shall in nowise be deprived therefore.
If any have delayed until the ninth hour,
Let him draw near, fearing nothing.
And if any have tarried even until the eleventh hour,
Let him, also, be not alarmed at his tardiness.

For the Lord, who is jealous of his honour,
Will accept the last even as the first.
He giveth rest unto him who cometh at the eleventh hour,
Even as unto him who hath wrought from the first hour.
And He showeth mercy upon the last,
And careth for the first;
And to the one He giveth,
And upon the other He bestoweth gifts.
And He both accepteth the deeds,
And welcometh the intention,
And honoureth the acts and praises the offering.

Wherefore, enter ye all into the joy of your Lord;
Receive your reward,
Both the first, and likewise the second.
You rich and poor together, hold high festival!
You sober and you heedless, honour the day!
Rejoice today, both you who have fasted
And you who have disregarded the fast.
The table is full-laden; feast ye all sumptuously.
The calf is fatted; let no one go hungry away.
Enjoy ye all the feast of faith:
Receive ye all the riches of loving-kindness.

Let no one bewail his poverty,
For the universal Kingdom has been revealed.
Let no one weep for his iniquities,
For pardon has shown forth from the grave.
Let no one fear death,
For the Saviour's death has set us free.
He that was held prisoner of it has annihilated it.

By descending into Hell, He made Hell captive.
He embittered it when it tasted of His flesh.
And Isaiah, foretelling this, did cry:
Hell, said he, was embittered
When it encountered Thee in the lower regions.

It was embittered, for it was abolished.
It was embittered, for it was mocked.
It was embittered, for it was slain.
It was embittered, for it was overthrown.
It was embittered, for it was fettered in chains.
It took a body, and met God face to face.
It took earth, and encountered Heaven.
It took that which was seen, and fell upon the unseen.

O Death, where is thy sting?
O Hell, where is thy victory?

Christ is risen, and thou art overthrown!
Christ is risen, and the demons are fallen!
Christ is risen, and the angels rejoice!
Christ is risen, and life reigns!
Christ is risen, and not one dead remains in the grave.
For Christ, being risen from the dead,
Is become the first-fruits of those who have fallen asleep.

To Him be glory and dominion
Unto ages of ages.

Amen."

-Paschal Homily, St. John Chrysostom

Memory Eternal!

Memory Eternal. This is a nice tribute.
Memory Eternal! A very nice tribute indeed.
Thank you so much everyone, it really comforts me knowing you guys are here. When I become a father, I'm going to have a very, very high standard to live up to. I won't let him down.

Thanks again everybody.
By the grace of God may his soul rest in peace and rise in glory.
Daniel, our dear godson...know that we love you and your family very much. We are here for you in whatever ways we can be. Know that there are many friends who love you and who walk by your side, even if you don't see them often because of physical distance. Our prayers and hearts are with you during this challenging season and always.
Words fail me... Daniel, I can not even imagine what it must be like for you. We are praying for all of you and although he was not family, he is our family through Christ and we will all miss him, too.

God bless.
Oops... um, that last comment was from me. I forgot that my mom was signed in...
Memory Eternal!

Thank you for keeping us informed with all the news, whether, it be happy or sad, we appreciate you sharing with us. Could you please send this to the family? We had trouble signing up to respond to the blog.

This was a beautiful tribute. Although we have been away for the summer, we have been trying to stay in touch through emails....but no matter the distance, our thoughts & prayers are for the family. We wished we could've know him better, he seemed like a very quiet, gentle, & humble man and although we didn't know him well, his presence will be greatly missed.
We would like to share this with the family and hope they find some comfort in this:

GOD HOLDS YOU CLOSE TO HIS HEART
May your heart find peace and comfort in the knowledge that you are never alone. May God's presence ease your spirit and give you rest. He knows how you feel...He is ever aware of your circumstances and ready to be your strength, your grace, and your peace. He is there to cast sunlight into all your darkened shadows. He sends encouragement through the love of friends and family, and replaces your weariness with new hope. He is your stronghold; with Him as your guide, you need never be afraid...No circumstances can block God's love. No grief is too hard for Him to bear. No task is too difficult for Him to complete. When what you are feeling is simply too deep for words, God understands. He is your provider--today, tomorrow, and always. And He loves you. Cast all your cares on Him...and believe. __Linda E. Daniel - And this one from Reader Justin:

Memory Eternal!
With the saints give rest, O Christ, to the soul of thy servant, where there is neither sickness nor sorrow, nor sighing, but life everlasting.
May the Lord beatify him, give him rest in Abraham's bosom, and number him among the righteous, for as much as He is good, and loves mankind.
Amen.

¡Memoria Eterna!, al siervo de Dios Kevin
Memory Eternal!
Memory Eternal!!! I can't imagine what you're going through right now, Daniel... nor can I think of anything really to say... just know that you're loved, and we're praying for you. I'm so sorry I can't make it to the funeral and burial tomorrow... stupid work.

Please pray for Matushka Elizabeth's family and friends who are in the path of Hurricane Dolly, which has just reached the Texas coast. After the burial service yesterday, which was close enough for us to make it to, they headed back down south to batten down the hatches.

Kevin was laid to rest at Holy Archangel's Monastery north of San Antonio yesterday after a lovely prayer service attended by the monks, Father Antonio and Matushka Elizabeth, their daughters and Kevin's and Daniel's friends and family. What a blessing to know that he will be in the presence and prayers of the monks in that peaceful place.
Hey, you're able to post! I was worried that y'all might lose power.
Thank God, so far we still have electricity. Much of the Valley does not. Here, which is a good bit inland, we've only had rain and moderate winds so far. More to come, however. The Coast is getting a beating, though. Sure wish we had our new Church Hall so could use it as a shelter for those in need... esp. those who live in poor colonias. All of the local shelters set up in schools and such are full right now! Anyway, we made it home safely at about 2 PM-did Huricane 101 until about 3 AM. Got some sleep, thank God, and now are riding out the day. We very much needed the rain, but perhaps not 15 inches all at once (projected, before it's all through...) So far for us, it has just been a deliciously rainy and blustery day. Huricane Dolly is moving slowly, though, and is expected to linger over our region until sometime tomorrow. So, flooding is the main concern for those in lower lying areas...
Elizabeth...thank you for the photos of the service at the monastery.
